About Sylvia and Vivian's
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, I relocated to North Carolina in 2007 when I launched Sylvia and Vivian's. Many people ask me "are you Sylvia or Vivian"? The answer is neither. While selecting for a name for my company nothing really fit. Then it dawned on me, why not pay tribute to the two women who had the most influence in my life, my sister, Sylvia and my mother, Vivian. Both were elegant women who I admired and who loved jewelry as much as I do. The name would be a tribute to them.
As a young child I watched and admired my mother make beautiful shell jewelry. I dreamed I would do the same when I grew up. However, since falling in love with natural gemstones, my jewelry designs have taken a different direction.
My collection includes an eclectic mix of jewelry styles. The designs stem from natural elements and are one-of-a-kind. The natural gemstone I use in each piece is chosen specifically for its unusual characteristics, color & size. Often the design includes jasper, Brazilian agate, lace agate, amethyst or malachite. I also use many types of metals, beads, pearls and other design elements to enhance the beauty of the natural gemstone, so that each piece represents a unique creation.
In 2015 I expanded my designs using natural gemstones with hand hammered copper made from different sizes of coper tubing as well as copper sheet and copper wire. The jewelry designs I offer through Sylvia and Vivian’s are truly one-of- a-kind hand crafted originals.
I believe there is truly nothing more special than having an original piece of wearable art that only you own.
